Quilt Art is a group of 20 professional, international quilt artists, who amongst other things, work to achieve wider recognition of quilting as an art form. The group holds regular touring exhibitions.

Their work is showcased in the books that accompany the exhibitions. In Quilt Art 20, a landscape-format book, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of Quilt Art, you will find the work of many of the quilt artists, beautifully photographed. Each artist talks about their work. Although the work is very individual and takes many forms, with each artist appearing to have something very different to offer. The work it is united by a love of quilting, a desire to produce a piece of art, an expression of what is at the core of each artist. Integrity and quality are bywords of the group.

Some members names may be familiar, I have already reviewed books by Mary Fogg and Dirkje van der Horst-Beetsma and Sandra Meech’s work appeared in Bailey Curtis’ books. This book is a quintessential look at quilting today. It provides much insight and inspiration.

Quilt Art 22 – under construction – is a smaller format – a pocket-sized book but it still has the same impact.

Books cost 16.00 and 11.50 respectively and are available from www.quiltart.org.uk
