Golden Artist Colors Paints by Golden, USA. Available from www.goldenpaints.com
Here is the first of my reviews for Golden Paints. I have been using fluid acrylics and I think they are so easy to use. I tried the Select Professional Fluid Acrylics set of eight half ounce (15 ml) cylinders that come in colours that enable you to mix a much wider palette. I had so much fun with these and I found that I did not need to extend the open time to achieve the effects I wanted. I worked with mixed media, also using various polymers and pastes produced by Golden. I used polymer matte medium to paste down tissue, soft gel to paste stronger papers and heavy gel medium to attach foil to my canvas. All these products were just great. I added a few colours to the Professional set – Green Gold, Phthalo green (blue shade) and something I now cannot live without- Iridescent Copper (Fine). The latter is one of my favourites. Another firm favourite is the Iridescent Bronze, which to my eye definitely looks gold, it just shimmers. These iridescents add a sparkle to your paintings. If you look at all the fluids together including matte, iridescent and interference, you will find an overwhelming choice of 120 colours. For this reason alone, get ready to spend and paint with glorious colour. You can create unique canvases or paintings with these incredible paints.
I urge you to give these Golden Paints a go, especially if you have had problems blending colours as you will encounter no such problems with these Golden fluid acrylics. They can be used with most of the other Golden products including other paints such as heavy body. I found that they had a great flow from my brush and I could squeeze them direct from the tube too for different effects. It’s been great fun experimenting with these Golden Paints and I know that I shall return to buy them again.
