The Everything Photography Book 2nd Ed by Meliisa Martin Ellis, softback published by Adas Media in the USA. Available in the UK, ISBN 978-1-59869-575-5, price 9.99 from www.davidandcharles.co.uk

If you are a technophobic, or you simply have difficulty getting to grips with the functions of a camera, you might find this useful. It is rather basic – it explains things in very simple terms. It presents the two halves of the coin- film versus digital for those unsure of which kind of camera they want to buy. If you have already made your decision, much of the information is irrelevant.

I found it quite good, but I would still prefer someone to show me how to do these things rather than read them in a book and then try alone. Balancing a book and camera at the same time is a difficult trick.
