A recurring theme in my textile work is the sea. I have used different materials – silk cocoons and silk tops. I then stitched my textile interpretation with hand dyed threads in silk. This textile art is worked on a hand-painted piece of Evolon, a spunbonded fabric.
As an artist I use my intuition to interpret the places and things I love and translate them into textiles. I love texture and capturing the atmosphere and the emotions I felt at the time. This piece interprets my love of the sea. The wildness of the waves is depicted by the looseness of some of the fibres and the texture created by the stitch.
This unique depiction of the sea would enhance any room as a wall hanging.
The textile wall decor measures 23 x 25 cm (9 x 10 inch). It can be mounted in a frame. This actual stitched area measures 19 x 18cm (almost 8 x just over 7 inch), with the right mount it would fit well in an A4 standard frame.
