Artist Support Pledge is the brainchild of Matthew Burrows on Instagram. It’s all about exposing artists to new markets using the hashtag #artistsupportpledge. Anyone can buy the artists’ work. Work can be 200 gbp and under. When an artist has taken 1000 gbp they pledge to buy from another artist. It’s a great idea to get artists through Covid 19 and to help them and allow them to help other artists at the same time. Follow me on Instagram karenplatt_textiles
Work For Sale
Under this banner of Artist Support Pledge I have already put quite a few small art quilts, textiles such as my embroidered portraits and some digital posters too. Today I thought I would add the last four quilts I have made. You can use the contact form on this website to buy as they are not yet listed anywhere. Any finished quilt listed under the heading quilts on the website that is under 200 gbp is also included.
Pink Feathers, my latest quilt is offered for 175 gbp plus p&p. 75 x 95 cm (30 x 38 inches). The back has some pink squares. See above.
Orange Butterflies, a wall quilt with 2-d butterflies. It is 75 gbp plus p&p. 64 cm square. (Approx 25 inches square).
Stripey Bullseye another wall quilt is 95 gbp plus p&p. 76 x 78 cm (just over 30 x 31 inches).
New Kid On the Block is 195 gbp plus p&p. Each block is different. 75 x 130cm (30 x just over 52 inches).
All quilts are cotton, they are all machine pieced and quilted. The binding is machine stitched to the front and hand stitched to the back. They have cotton wadding. Each one is unique and designed by me.
A great way for you to support artists through the Artist Support Pledge and for me to support artists whilst making a living from my art. I know I have found it tough during lockdown and since I am vulnerable, I am staying at home as much as possible, so I really need and appreciate the support.

New Products In Store Quilts and ebooks including two new quilted wall hangings and two new Inspiration ebooks. If you are looking for Part 3 of the Scrap Quilt, give me another week and it will be finished. This week was all about getting some new products in store. I also completed two more knitting patterns for the Peak District Knitting Book I am writing. So it was a very productive week after what has seemed like being in the wilderness.
I know quilters who seem to make a quilt a day and I am much much slower, which worries me sometimes but maybe it is just tortoise and hare stuff. I started the ‘Indian Wedding’ quilts on 25 September 2019. They would both have been finished one month later, but I had no binding for the second one. Now completed, here they are in all their loveliness and they are for sale here. More photos on the listing.
New Inspiration ebooks
New products in store also includes lots of new ebooks. At just 7.99, these are superb value. Each ebook in the series features hundreds of photos you can use to inspire your own work, often with examples of my work too. They are downloadable pfds. The new titles are Flaking Paint and Trees. Existing titles include Skies, Rust, Lichen, Bark, Coast. I am working on three forthcoming titles concerning pattern. You can see all the ebooks here
I am doing very well putting the Peak District Knitting Pattern book together. So far I have a hat, scarf, shawl, stole. Next up is a pair of socks. This knitting pattern book will be sold on Ravelry, where I already have a few patterns (nowhere near all my patterns!)
Did I say I would finish that Scrap Quilt for next week???
New quilting launches. It’s one of those months when I just know things are coming to fruition. June is absolutely chock full of new quilting launches. My new quilting launches include quilts, BOM, tutorials, features, workshops. What more could the quilting world want?
My FOQ quilt is well on its way, hurrah. It’s not the one I wanted to do, but hey ho, that happens sometimes as a designer when you set the bar too high. I am satisfied that it is something I can finish, it has a twist and good colour combination. That’s good enough for me. Another wall hanging quilt is planned and another in the Don River series. Yesterday I walked some more of the river. I think I have quilted more than last year.
Autumn Quilting Launch
A brand new quilting launch for me – my first BOM. This is an autumn start BOM, not a one year long haul, but something manageable for everyone. Something everyone can do. Join me now. It is going to be exciting. Fabrics are available or you can buy your own. This is not an expensive BOM, but one I hope everyone feels they can afford.
There will be at least one new tutorial, maybe more. All the new launches will be on the website, click here. The July issue of British Quilting & Patchwork features my first and last quilt. How tremendous is this my first feature in a quilting magazine! More great news is that booking should now be open online at the West Country Quilt Show, where you can book one of three workshops I am teaching at this show. The workshops are repeated each day, so take your pick from quilting coasters, quilting a landscape or hand stitched Cathedral Window quilting. One workshop has already sold out. I have heard fantastic recommendations of this show, so I hope you will join me. Book here
